After a lengthy shortlisting process the NABBC has a truly international line up of finalists for the final of their conducting competition. With finalists taken from all over the UK, France, Italy and Australia the 12 finalists shall battle it out through two rounds, firstly with the Rainford Band before 6 go through to the final with the Eccles Borough Band.
The association are delighted to announce the judging panel for the day shall be Mark Heron, Head of conducting at the Royal Northern College of Music and well known and respected Brass Band Conductor Paul Holland.
On these announcements NABBC President Russell Gray commentated;
I'm delighted to see this unique event growing every year. We continue to be committed to bringing conductors together through our events, and this year we have truly reached out to a worldwide audience. I'm looking forward to welcoming everyone to Eccles on Saturday.
The Association also wish to express their thanks to Yamaha as well as Ronnie and Ray at band supplies Scotland, who have generously offered the financial support to the event.
The final of the competition will be in the form of a gala concert on Saturday 9th June where the 6 chosen finalists shall lead the Eccles Borough Band through a concert item before NABBC chairperson Mareika Gray shall lead the band through the second half whilst the judges deliberate.
Entry to the concert is free with a retiring collection, the event starts at 19.30 at the Eccles Town Hall, Church St, Eccles, M30 0LH.
