David Wm Ashworth

David has been PRO for the past 3 years, and is committed to raise the profile of the Association throughout all media channels. His latest venture is this, the N.A.B.B.C. web site.

His banding career started in 1959, playing the tenor horn in his father's band, along with his two brothers. He had the pleasure of playing with numerous bands in the North West Area, which included Besses-o'th-Barn Band and Wingates Temperance.

David studied with the Royal School of Church Music where he became the 'North of England Choral Master.'

He started conducting in 1983 and has conducted numerous Bands, at all levels. He is also a very active adjudicator having recently adjudicated at the Rhyl Festival and on two occasions, has been invited to adjudicated at the CISWO Miners Contest at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool. The latest being November 2002.

He served as a Police Officer with both the Lancashire Constabulary and the Greater Manchester Police before retiring in 1987, on medical grounds.

He has recently been appointed to the Board of the National College of Brass.

His hobbies include teaching youngsters to play brass instruments and golf.
