National Convention 2010
Sunday 16th May
The 2010 National Convention is well into the advanced stages of development. The No. 2 Northern Area convention sub-committee with the help of NABBC member Andrew White are planning a convention that will be both innovative and motivating for all the delegates.
In past years this major NABBC event has been held over a weekend, but with the changing times and rising costs it has been decided that it will be a one day event this year. Taking place on Sunday 16 May, the day after the 90th Spring Brass Band Festival - Grand Shield, Senior Cup and Senior Trophy contests in Blackpool.
The venue for the convention is at the Bispham High School and Arts College, Bispham Road, Blackpool FY2 0NH.
The day will open with the NABBC AGM, there will be further and more detailed information about all the day’s activities in the next issue of The Conductor, but here is a taster of what you can look forward to.
There will be a Yamaha Workshop, with one of Yamaha’s ’Ambassadors’ attending, and then in the afternoon there will be a percussion workshop. This will include a ‘massed participation’ element to it and for this you might like to brush up on your Latin American rhythms. The afternoon will close with what should be a truly fascinating insight into the world of the computer music software programme Sibelius 7.
To follow in the steps of recent conventions there will be a short, and quality, concert to close the day’s activities.
